Nutrition Month 2025 is here, and this year's theme really hits home: "Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!" In simpler terms, it means: "Food and Nutrition Security, Make it a Priority! Enough Food is Our Right!" It's a powerful message that reminds us of something fundamental: access to nutritious food is a right, not a privilege.
It's easy to feel overwhelmed by big issues like food security. But the truth is, we all have a role to play in creating a more equitable and nourished world. This Nutrition Month, I'm making a personal commitment to do my part.
My Pledge for a Food-Secure Future:
- Nourish Myself, Inspire Others: I'm committed to eating a healthy and balanced diet, and I'll share my knowledge and experiences with friends and family to encourage them to make positive changes, too.
- Waste Not, Want Not: I'll be extra mindful about reducing food waste in my own life. That means planning meals, storing food properly, and getting creative with leftovers.
- Support Our Farmers, Support Our Future: Whenever possible, I'll choose locally sourced food and products to support our farmers and build a more sustainable food system.
These small acts might seem insignificant on their own, but they represent a conscious choice to prioritize food and nutrition security. They're a way of saying that I believe everyone deserves access to healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate food.
